Key Happening Dates at the “House” for 2010. www.oldoarhouseinn.com March 15th thru April 30th hours Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - Closing Saturday and Sunday 7:00 a.m. - Closing Hillbilly Breakfast Buffet every weekend 7:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. It’s hard to believe that another year has started but the nice Spoonbill I saw weighed in off our docks yesterday was all the proof I needed to see that 2010 is officially here! We have two Spoonbill tournaments scheduled this year. The first and last Saturday in April we’ll host our two tournaments, that would be the 3rd ($10.00) and the 24th ($20.00) of April respectively. Same as last year each tournament will start at 0700 from our docks and end promptly at 1500 hrs. Sharp! Also same as last year we require each boat to check in for wrist bands before they start fishing. We will allow signups right up until 0700 each morning. Fish can’t have rope marks on them and once checked a piece will be removed from their tail. This year we’ll pay out the top 6 fish for the first tournament and the top 3 fish for the second tournament. Memorial Day Weekend this year falls on the 29th, 30th, & Monday the 31st of May, plan on joining us for some local live music. Join us Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for our 2nd annual "Missouri's Longest Residential Parade". Get into the spirit and decorate your golf cart, lawn mower, ATV, or mule with red, white, and blue and fly your American flag to show your patriotism. The parade will leave the lower parking lot and will circle Cole Turkey Acres. This years theme is tied with Benton County Food Pantry and a suggested donation is 10 food canned items or non perishable goods to help out the less fortunate in our community. Cash donations will also be accepted. Specifically looking for macaroni and cheese, pork & beans, diapers, feminine needs, tuna, ramon noodles, peanut butter, beans, rice, dry cereal, and canned soups. July 4th actually falls on a Sunday this weekend. Plan on stopping in for a cold beer on your way back from the Warsaw fireworks display. July 10th we will have our annual fireworks show by Dishonest Don's Fireworks (www.dishonestdonsfireworks.com). Don't miss the best fireworks show at the lake. You can also purchase fireworks online and pick them up at The Old Oar House Inn. Click here for Dishonest Don's Flyer. July 17th marks our “World Famous” Miss Raft Race Queen Bikini Contest. Contestants from all walks of life are welcome and the Queen will escort the raft race contestants as they battle for the trophy prize and bragging rights for the year as they race downstream 1 ½ miles. I’ve even seen some pretty sexy grandmas so drop your inhibitions and sign up any time before the contest. There is a $50 sponsor charge which is all donated to the Benton County Cancer Society. The contest will start at 1:00 PM sharp so don’t be late! We still need three judges. See Bruce if you’re interested in being a judge and mention you read it on the internet. August 7th and 8th is our Annual Lake Ozark Poker Run. All proceeds are also donated to the Twin Lakes Hospice as well. The channel hop was started in 1982 by George and Kathy Fischer and has raised over $40,000.00 to date. Entry forms go on sale July 31st at each of these sponsor locations: The Old Oar House Inn / BB Bar / Last Chance Bar / White Branch Marina / Buck Naked / Cardinal Cove. Other possible locations may be: Holiday Hills Marina and Vernices on the Water. Ernie and Linda Campbell’s Children’s Mercy Hospital Auction is scheduled for August 21st. Donations accepted all summer and we’ll make sure Linda and Ernie get them. This is one of the best events we host all summer long. Talk about a worthy cause. Last year they raised over $8,000. Call us for the start time as I didn’t have it at ‘press’ time. Labor Day Weekend this year falls on September 4th, 5th, and 6th. The annual raft race and world famous water fight will begin at 1:00 PM sharp on Sunday the 6th. This water fight defies description. I’ve seen water cannons blow people off their jet skis before! You won’t want to miss the race. Raft race contestants can find raft construction instructions within the website. If you have trouble finding them shoot me an email and I’ll help you out. Download the Raft Race Rules below in the format that suits your needs.
If you have any questions on the above activities call Bernie for details, (660) 438-5398. Remember: A bad day fishing is better than a great day at work! |
